Create Podcasts With KeyNote 08'

One of the new features of KeyNote 08' is that you can record audio over slideshow and export for ipod and then upload to iTunes U.

1) Start Keynote
2) File --> Record SlideShow
3) When finished, Save. The slideshow is now saved with your audio.
4) When ready to upload to iTunes U open Keynote from step 3.
5) File --> Export --> Quicktime

Great job!

I am hearing great feedback from students about iTunesU. Keep up the
good work. Greg Wear is putting a paragraph in the next catalog about
iTunesU.

Enhanced Podcasts

Issue:

Most of us have been saving our enhanced podcasts as .m4a format. This format allows students to view each slide from the 'chapter' menu in iTunes. However, students who sync their podcasts to an ipod or iphone only hear sound because the artwork does not show up using the .m4a format.

Solution:

If you are using Profcast change the export file format to .mov instead of m4a. Students will lose the chapter feature(do they use it anyway), however every student will be able to see and hear your enhanced podcast because it will be a true video file format that can be seen and heard in iTunes or iPods. If you have saved your Profcast files you can open, click "share" and export as .mov.

Course Podcasts Requirements

To All:

There are a few things to make mention of to tighten up our itunesU site.
Apple is going to begin highlighting some of your courses very soon and millions could be viewing your course podcasts very soon.

Read and apply below suggestions.

1) Podcast Titles:

Most of us are using the class title, chapter number and chapter title, ex: CIS102 Chapter 2 Computer Basics
We all need to change our naming convention as follows:

Descriptive Title or Descriptive Title then chapter in parenthesis

example:
Computer Basics (chpt2) Or Computer Basics Not CIS102 Chapter 2 Computer Basics

Editing Podcasts titles: When logged into iTunesU click on "Upload and Manage Files" then click on pencil icon to right of podcast to change.

2) Artist Name:

Make sure your artist name is [First Name] [Last Name] only on all podcasts or handouts. Example: Charles Konkol

3) Audio and Handouts tabs: unless these are being used I am going to delete these tabs. If you want to add in the future you can.

Any Questions Please email me.
